Atlegay Band Gifts shishalh Nation with 20,000 lbs of Chum Salmon
The shishalh community will be filleting and the smokehouses burning tonight and over the Thanksgiving weekend thanks to the Atlegay Band of Campbell River. After a 7 hour fishing trip they came home with a bounty and they brought 20,000 lbs over to Halfmoon Bay for the shishalh Nation to enjoy and indulge in their cultural affinity as the Salmon People.
Residential School Monument Memorial - shishalh Nation
On September 19th 2015 the shishalh Nation unveiled and blessed a monument dedicated to the First Nations children from 48 nations throughout British Columbia and Alberta who attended St. Augustine Residential School from 1904 to 1975. Many children died and many spirits were lost to this cultural genocide. Chilling stories from survivors are told for the first time in public shedding light onto the dark legacy of the Residential School Era. After enduring so much, the shishalh Nation is now moving forward towards healing their lives, spirits and culture.

The Chief welcomed the vehicle at the Administration Building this morning Friday September 18th . Today is also the private ceremony for the dedication of the Residential School Monument, tomorrow is the public unveiling 12noon -3PM behind the Admin building.
