The jobs were available, the workers were excited and the employment numbers skyrocketed. Dent Construction was hiring in the last round of job recruitment on the roads and bridges section and everyone got an interview and a great chance for a good paying job. This second Job fair for the Narrows Inlet hydro project was for the civil works. The membership would be interviewed for the positions they have experience in: Engineers, Operators, Iron workers, Electrical support, Surveys, Carpenters, Labourers, office workers basically all the job opportunities from now until the end of the job.
The Fiji Islands were devastated by one of the largest cyclone tornados in recorded history. Thousands are without food and shelter and need immediate relief. On April 16th, the Fijian community will organize a fundraising Night in Fiji dining and dancing evening with Fijian food Cultural events and music. A wonderful night for a wonderful cause. Return of The Salmon
Long ago the shishalh Nation Elders had a vision that one day salmon would return to Sechelt Creek, a once thriving salmon habitat that was nearly destroyed by Industry 40 years ago. This video shows how the shishalh Nation and green energy producers Capstone and Regional Power Inc. have regenerated the once decimated creek using Science, Stewardship and Spirit.
Forestry Training Program Graduates
On Monday February 22nd, 2016, members of the shishalh Nation's young workforce completed certification in a number of forestry programs. The goal of programs like this StillWater Consulting Forestry Training Program is to increase high-paying employment opportunities for shishalh Youth.

Melanie Mark - the first First Nations woman elected to the B.C. legislature
As was widely expected, the NDP’s Melanie Mark has won in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, retaining what is considered one of the NDP’s safest seats in the province. Mark, who has Nisga’a, Gitxsan, Cree and Ojibway heritage, will be the first First Nations woman elected to the B.C. legislature.
