About SIGD (Sechelt Indian Government District)

Purposes:

In order to perform these duties the District must develop annual budget and tax rates. The District has also adopted a number of regulatory bylaws over the years such as: animal control, noise bylaw, traffic bylaw, unsightly premises, burning and smoke release etc. These bylaws are enforced on a written complaint basis.

The SIGD is, in essence, the local government.
