The Lands department is responsible for the oversight and management of the all the land owned by the shíshálh Nation. The shíshálh Nation owns 33 parcels of land which are located throughout our traditional territory a total of 1,031 hectares.
The Lands Department is responsible for:
Development of Lease Agreements for Residential, Commercial and Industrial Parks;
Process of Permits for Foreshore Agreements, and Right of Away;
Process of lease assignments, mortgages, modification agreements and all legal documents pertaining to the leasing;
Review and respond to all lease enquiries and make recommendations to Chief and Council;
Ensure that contractual terms are being followed;
Provide rental/lease reviews on residential and commercial lots;
Allocation of SIB lots;
All administrative duties pertaining to the Lands departments such as maintaining filing system, letters, legal documents and referrals to Chief and Council etc;
Work with SIB Departments, Government organizations, Realtors, Lawyers, Notaries, Appraisal Companies and Surveyors.
